Prime Minister and Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal have agreed to address the demands of agitating Tharus and other janajati groups. They reached the understanding at a meeting Friday.

The understanding between top leaders of the two main ruling allies came as the protest movement of Tharus and janajati groups entered its 12th day.

Highways, educational institutions and businesses in several Terai districts have been closed due to the protests that erupted after the government enlisted Tharus and Terai-based janajatis under Madhesi category.
